Poem 648
Just An Excuse by Lisa Izzie

- I want to believe in God,
- I want to believe he's there,
- I want to believe he hears,
- I want to believe he cares.
-
- I want to feel his presents,
- I want to hear his call,
- I want to know he'll be there,
- To catch me if I fall.
-
- But prayers go unanswered,
- And havoc lay all around,
- The good I see are suffering,
- So many beaten down.
-
- How can so many follow,
- Blinded in their beliefs,
- Kill, maim and curse,
- Salvation is their relief.
-
- In the name of God we kill,
- In the name of God we chant,
- In the name of God we fight,
- In the name of God we rant.
-
- Seems that God's become a name,
- Used as an excuse,
- To control and hurt others,
- And keep a tightened noose.
-
